Obituary of Elaine Scott Culley
CULLEY, Elaine Scott "Scottie," 85, passed away at her home in Richmond on April 1, 2014. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hugh M. Fain Jr.; husband of 35-plus years, W. Jennings Culley; and sister, Frances S. Spear. She is survived by children from her first marriage, John W. Fain and wife, Jane, T. Scott Fain and husband, Markus Hodapp, Hugh M. Fain III and wife, Renee, and Frances Fain Valentino and husband, Tony; grandchildren, Courtney, J.C. and wife, Courtney, Gray, Joyce, Audrey and Sally Fain and Margaret Walker; stepson, Cliff Culley and wife, Helen; stepdaughter, Pam Bullis and husband, Wayne; stepgrandchildren, Amy Buck and husband, Jason, Tim Bullis and wife, Andrea, Carol Collins and husband, Michael, and Claire Stevens and husband, Thomas. Scottie was an avid golfer, Bridge player and entertainer. She played golf and Bridge at the Country Club of Virginia and loved to entertain friends and family at her home in Cedarfield or during her various travels to the beach, the mountains or Augusta. She was a member of the Tuckahoe Woman's Club and the University of Richmond Chapel Guild. She graduated from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina and received her Master's degree in Humanities from the University of Richmond. She also volunteered her services at Henrico Doctor's Hospital every Friday morning for over 38 years. The families will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today), April 3, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 at Trinity Methodist Church on Forest Avenue with a reception to follow. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Methodist Church. The families wish to express their sincerest gratitude to the loving and caring staff at the Cedarfield Special Care Unit.
