Frederic Austin Hook

HOOK, Frederic Austin, 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Henrico Doctors’ Hospital. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice “Lorraine” Hook, his parents Thomas Frederic Hook and Anne Higgins Hook and his son, Brian James Hook He is survived by his daughter Valerie Hook Morris and her husband Donald Morris of Oilville, Virginia; and son, Frederic A. Hook, Jr. and his wife Julie Woodcock Hook of Washington, Missouri; his sister Barbara Trommer of West Islip, New York. He is also survived by grandchildren Andrew and Ryan Morris; Emily and Abigail Hook; Phelicia Maynard, Seamus, Fiona and Ian Hook; and great grandson Gregory Maynard. Freddie was in the United States Navy for 8 years where he travelled the world and developed his love for incredibly strong coffee. Shortly after his honorable discharge in 1963, Freddie joined the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He walked over 10 miles a day during his long tenure on his hometown route. Freddie most recently lived with his daughter and her family in Oilville, Virginia. There will be a memorial service at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2245 Huguenot Trail, Powhatan VA on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11 AM. The family will receive visitors immediately after the service during a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church Outreach program in Mr. Hook’s name.
