James "Jim" Elmo Brooks, Sr.

BROOKS, James "Jim" Elmo Sr., 82, a retired truck driver of Glen Allen, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 5, 2018. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sarah A. Brooks and a granddaughter Taylor Tiller, his mother Sarah Lloyd and his dad St. Elmo Brooks of Center Cross, Va. He is survived by his sister Rose Waters; brother Gene Brooks; wife Gladys Lee Brooks of 63 years; four children, James E. Brooks Jr., Brenda Tiller (Mike), Jeff Brooks (Gail), and Stacey Brooks; six grandchildren, Sierra Stumpf, James E. Brooks III, Jenny True, Ryan Tiller, Ronnie Brooks and Greg Brooks; ten great-grandchildren, and many many very close friends. He was a “Jack-of-all-Trades” and would help anyone and fix anything, especially Volkswagens. He loved to travel cross country especially in the fall to the mountains. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. He was a great father, husband, papa, and friend to everyone. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home–Parham Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 11, at 11 a.m. at Parham Road Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park.
