Myron "Mike" H. Ruehl

Myron "Mike" Harry Ruehl, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2017 at St. Anthony Hospice with his loving family at his side. Mike was born January 30, 1936 in Crown Point, Indiana to the late August and Florence (McColly) Ruehl. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Orson and William "Tiny" Ruehl; sister, Ruth Bond; and a daughter-in-law Marcia Ruehl; and brother-in-law, Alfred Gladys. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Elaine (Gladys) Ruehl; daughter, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Hanlon; son, Michael (Julie) Ruehl; grandchildren, Amanda (Mathew ) Harris, Trisha (Brandon) Moyer, Katlyne Ruehl; brothers, August Roy (Doris) Ruehl, and Richard (Sandy) Ruehl; sister-in-law, Dolores Gladys; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike honorably served in the United States Army. After he retired from ConRail with over 30 years of service, he, his wife, and daughter, purchased and became owners and operators of Building Blocks Child Care. He enjoyed cooking and flying RC model airplanes. He was also a talented woodworker, making shelves, clocks, and tables. He especially loved spending time with his family, relaxing in his chair and watching football. Memorials may be given to Hospice Franciscan Communities. Mike's family would like to thank St. Anthony Hospice for making Myron's last days of life comfortable and pain free. Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, IN 46375).
