Matthew Bottalico

Matthew Bottalico, 94, Alexandria, VA, passed away August 18, 2013 at his home. Matt was born April 24, 1919, son of the late Pasquale & Louise Arena Bottalico.
Matt served in the Army 29th Infantry in WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded during the Invasion of Normandy in the battle at St. Lo.
Matt was a former bricklayer, builder/developer, restaurateur, and business broker. His most famous restaurants were Tallyrand, Los Josan, and the original Top O’ The Town above the Prospect House, where he was implemental in building the exterior elevator.
He is survived by his wife, the former Carol Mathias, daughter & son-in-law Joanie & John Antonelli, son Richard Alger, brother Pasquale (Pat) Bottalico, Jr., 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday August 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151, where a service will be held at 7:00 pm
Interment with military honors will be held Friday August 23, 2013 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906 at 1:00 pm
