Gayl M. Mikulan
May 12, 1936 – March 21, 2021
IN THE CARE OF
Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service
Gayl M. Mikulan nee Mason, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 21 March 2021. Gayl was born on 12 May 1936 in Pittsburgh PA, and resided in Lawrenceville PA, before moving to Stafford VA in 2007.
Gayl worked as a billing agent in a privately owned medical home supply company for many years. She then moved to the Bradford Business School where she worked in recruitment for several years, and finally as an administrative supervisor at the Better Business Bureau. After retirement from full time work, and her move to Virginia, she also worked part time as a Wal-Mart greeter.
Gayl was lively and funny, and known for her fiery red hair, which at times matched her temperament. She was also a somewhat dramatic person, who loved to spend time with her family and telling stories from the past. She also loved to sketch and paint, watch Jeopardy, listen to music, sing karaoke, cook, and most of all play BINGO with her new and dearest friend and confidant Rose, where she always seemed to have the greatest luck!
Gayl was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James D. Mikulan; her son, Robert G. Mikulan; her parents, Richard A. Mason, Sr. and Eva M. Mason; her sister, Margaret S. Mihalchik; and her brother in laws, Robert Mihalchik and David G. McCabe.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret A. “Peg” Hill; her grandsons, Eugene A. “Allex” and Elijah A. Hill; her brother, Richard “Dick” A. Mason Jr.(Joan); her sister, Carol A. McCabe and her youngest brother, James “Jimmy” A. Mason; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
A visitation for Gayl will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554. A celebration of life will follow at 5:00 PM.
