Obituary of Luis Gilberto Paz
Luis Giberto Paz, age 78, of Woodbridge, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. Luis was born in Ambato, Ecuador and spent most of his young life in Guayaquil with his family. He served in the Ecuadorian Army, Mountain Calvary Division 668 and told many fond and funny stories about his time in the service. At the age of 22 his father passed away so he left the army and began working to support his family. Many of his younger siblings looked to him as a father figure because he helped raise and care for them. In 1974, Luis moved to the United States for more opportunities and to earn an income to support his family in Ecuador. He met his wife Maria while attending night school for English. They married in 1976 and a few years later began their family. In 1980 he very proudly became a United States citizen. He was taught the trade of cobbler by his father at a very young age in Ecuador and used it in the US to support his family. He was proud of his work and even made all of his children and grandchildren their first pair of leather shoes. He took his love for his trade and started his own successful business. He was incredibly proud that his hard work supported them as his family grew. Luis devoted his life to hard work and his family. He was a fun-loving soul who could make anyone laugh, especially his family. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of family and friends and a life well-lived. He is survived by his wife Maria Paz, his children Christina Paz Kurucz, son-in-law Rusty Kurucz, Kathy Paz-Craddock, son-in-law Richard Craddock, and Luis Antonio Paz; his siblings Hector Horocio Paz, Magdalena Guadalupe Flores, Carlos Roberto Paz, Maria Elena Contreras, Jose Ricardo Paz, Jorge Ruben Paz; his grandchildren Alejandro Luis Paz, Liliana Marie Paz, Callie Nicole Kurucz, and Avery Marie Paz; and many other beloved family. Luis was preceded in death by his father, Hector Bolivar Paz; mother Georgina Delia Perez; sister Margarita Elizabeth Paz De La Rosa and grandson Blain Austin Kurucz. Luis Giberto Paz, de 78 años, de Woodbridge, Virginia falleció el miércoles 14 de junio de 2023. Luis nació en Ambato, Ecuador y pasó la mayor parte de su juventud en Guayaquil con su familia. Sirvió en el Ejército Ecuatoriano, División de Caballería de Montaña 668 y contó muchas historias graciosas y divertidas sobre su tiempo en el servicio. A la edad de 22 años su padre falleció por lo que dejó el ejército y comenzó a trabajar para mantener a su familia. Muchos de sus hermanos menores lo consideraban una figura paterna porque ayudó a criarlos y cuidarlos. En 1974, Luis se mudó a los Estados Unidos en busca de más oportunidades y obtener ingresos para mantener a su familia en Ecuador. Conoció a su esposa María mientras asistía a la escuela nocturna de inglés. Se casaron en 1976 y formaron su familia y unos pocos años después, en 1980, él se convirtió orgullosamente en ciudadano de los Estados Unidos. Su padre le enseñó el oficio de zapatero a una edad muy temprana en Ecuador y lo usó en los Estados Unidos para mantener a su familia. Estaba orgulloso de su trabajo e incluso les hizo a todos sus hijos y nietos su primer par de zapatos de cuero. Tomó su amor por su oficio y comenzó su propio negocio exitoso. Estaba increíblemente orgulloso de que su arduo trabajo los apoyara a medida que su familia crecía. Luis dedicó su vida al trabajo duro ya su familia. Era un alma amante de la diversión que podía hacer reír a cualquiera, especialmente a su familia. Deja un maravilloso legado de familia y amigos y una vida bien vivida. Le sobreviven su esposa María Paz, sus hijos Christina Paz Kurucz, yerno Rusty Kurucz, Kathy Paz-Craddock, yerno Richard Craddock y Luis Antonio Paz; sus hermanos Héctor Horocio Paz, Magdalena Guadalupe Flores, Carlos Roberto Paz, María Elena Contreras, José Ricardo Paz, Jorge Rubén Paz; sus nietos Alejandro Luis Paz, Liliana Marie Paz, Callie Nicole Kurucz y Avery Marie Paz; y muchas otras queridas familias. A Luis le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Héctor Bolívar Paz; madre Georgina Delia Pérez; hermana Margarita Elizabeth Paz De La Rosa y nieto Blain Austin Kurucz.
