Robert "Tony" Meischner

Robert "Tony" Meischner, age 85 of Woodbridge, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Tony was born on February 15, 1937 to Roy and Mary Meischner in Jacksonville, Florida. After Tony graduated from Landon Senior High School in 1955, he served in the United States Navy from 1955 - 1959, with his last duty assignment and major command on the USS Bang. He later attended Jacksonville University and graduated with a Psychology degree in 1964. In 1977, he received a degree in Master of Arts from the University of the District of Columbia. Tony loved traveling, and spending time outdoors. He visited Italy, Greece and Malta while in the Navy. To him, the best vacation was jumping in the car and heading out on the open road, this way he wouldn't miss any important landmarks along the way. One memorable road trip was driving to the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans, but his greatest adventure was a road trip to the Grand Canyon. Over the years, he spent time hiking in the mountains and taking walks on nature trails. He loved nature very much, and appreciated the beauty of the great outdoors. He truly enjoyed cooking, as well as trying new recipes. As much as he loved cooking for himself, he said the best meals were the ones that were eaten with friends and family. Tony's greatest joy and accomplishment was being a loving father and grandfather. His soft spoken words, kind smile and big bear hugs will be missed. Tony is survived by his daughter Dawn Ovel and her husband Sean Ovel; grandson Anthony White and his wife Sarah White; granddaughter Stacie White; grandson Connor Ovel, granddaughter Cara Ovel and great granddaughter Ellie White. A visitation for Tony will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554. A celebration of life will occur Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554. An inurnment will occur Friday, December 16, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, Virginia 22172.
