Wallace Wayne Brinkley

W. Wayne Brinkley, 68, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on January 20, 1943, in Staunton, the son of the late Malcolm Brinkley and Frances (Price) Brinkley Rowe. Wayne was an outstanding athlete during his youth having played baseball and basketball at Robert E. Lee High School. Following graduation played for the Staunton Braves and was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Survivors include his children, Michael Brinkley Lambert of Virginia Beach, Kasey Brinkley of Tennessee and Sarah Brinkley Armstrong of Staunton; one sister, Marcia Warren of Greenville; five grandchildren; aunts, Stella Price Montague and Loyce Price; and a special friend, Anne See. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 West Frederick Street, with the Reverend Donald Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011, before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Legal Services, P.O. Box 551, Harrisonburg, VA 22803. Sarah I am so sorry for your loss and your family..I just found out he had past..I had tryed calling different ones over the last year to see how he was doin..I visited him last at the home he was in at the time..made me sad to see him there I remember the fun dancing big tall cowboy even thou our time togather was short I will always remember him and our time togather...my heart is heavy knowing he is gone..I will miss the good sweet man he could be rest in peace dear Wayne love always Cathy

Wayne's Family and friends,I don't know most or any of you.I did know Wayne's sister Marsha I belive.I haven;t talked to or seen Wayne for over 40 years.I grew up up the street from him and I was about 8 years his junior.I just want to add what a good and kind man he was to me.He befriend a younger kid was kind respectful and encouraged me.He never got a thing out of it other than being a good person.I will always remmber his kindness and having time to help others
