Rufus E. Beachy Sr.

Rufus E. Beachy, Sr., 94, passed away peacefully Oct. 30, 2013, at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Arthur, Ill., to the late Eli and Cora (Yoder) Beachy. He was a member of Pilgrim Christian Fellowship. On Oct. 10, 1946, he married Amelia Schrock, who preceded him in death Sept. 5, 1981. On Aug. 28, 1983, he married Alma Fern Yutzy, who survives. Rufus is survived by six sons, Edward (Louise Miller) of Honeybrook, Pa., Henry (Clara Miller) of Huntland, Tenn., Alton (Lovina Helmuth) of Plain City, Ohio, Simon (Loretta Byler) of Itasca, Texas, Marvin (Orpha Beiler) of Marion, Ky. and Rufus Jr. (Saloma Kauffman) of Staunton; 34 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, one foster sister, Katie Graber of Arthur, Ill. and six nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Beachy and a sister, Dora Schrock. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Pilgrim Christian Fellowship, 240 Twin Hill Rd., Stuarts Draft, VA, 24477. A funeral service will be at Pilgrim Christian Fellowship on Nov. 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
