Frances M. Slaven

Francis M. Slaven was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on August 7, 1912 to Frank Miller Wilson (deceased) and Myrtle Elle Stevens Wilson (deceased). She entered Heaven's gates on March 23, 2013.
A mother and homemaker, Francis enjoyed her family and friends and never met a stranger.
Francis had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Higher Ground Church, Terre Haute, IN where she was very involved and loved to sing. The last two years she lived in Monticello, IN with her daughter and attended Calvary Temple church. Her giving spirit and eagerness to share her love for Jesus quickly integrated her in the church and community.
Francis was married to Charlie William "Bill" Slaven, August 22, 1928. He preceded her in death, 1972.
She was one of 15 children. Archie Wilson (brother), Terre Haute, Leroy Wilson (brother)Terre Haute, Catherine Sinclair (sister) Rosedale, IN.
She had six children; James (Murietta) Slaven, Lafayette, IN. Robert (Eileen, daughter in law (deceased) Slaven, LaGrange, IN. Quince (son deceased) wife, Rev. Mary Slaven, Terre Haute. Marilyn Schaffer (Rev. J.L. Schaffer, son in law, deceased), Monticello, IN. Joyce Ridge (daughter, deceased) son in law, Bill Ridge, Terre Haute.
William "Billy" (Edie) Slaven, Tampa, FL.
She has 22 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 for viewing from 10am-1pm and a celebration of her life will begin at 1:00 pm at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 Lafayette Ave, Terre Haute, IN. Funeral will be officiated by Joe Mattox. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
