Ruth Mary Rooksberry

Ruth Mary Furnas Rooksberry, 85, of Terre Haute, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, in her home, with her family by her side. She was born on June 26, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to Argo and Alta (Newton) Furnas. She married Ralph Vernon Rooksberry in 1948. Ruth worked at Quaker Maid until her retirement when the plant closed in 1979. She loved to knit, quilt, and garden. Ruth is survived by her son, Terry Rooksberry and his wife Candie of Terre Haute; a brother, Robert Furnas and wife Mary Lou of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law, Paulette Rooksberry of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Leslie Tincher of Terre Haute; Terry (April) Rooksberry of Rosedale; Keith (Stacey) Rooksberry, Sabrina (Bryan) Burdick, all of Terre Haute; Amy (Jeff) Niemeyer of Avon; Robyn (Chris) Mathas of Rosedale; Karl Melching, Dana Gitzinger, and Joshua (Lisa) Tucker, all of Tampa; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carolin Tincher; a son, Joseph Rooksberry; and a sister, Jean. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home, with Jeff Niemeyer officiating.
