Theresa McCracken, 94, of Crawfordsville went to be with her Lord on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, while at Whitlock Place, where she received tender loving care since November 2017. She was born on April 11, 1924, in Clinton, to John and Mary Marzilli (Murphy). She married Stan McCracken. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Theresa graduated from Clinton High School where she was both homecoming and prom queen. She worked alongside her husband in their business, Indiana Fruit Market, in Kankakee, Illinois, for more than 40 years. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for more than 30 years at Central Christian Church, Kankakee, Illinois. After moving to Crawfordsville in 1991 she became a member of First Baptist Church. While spending winters in Florida, she worshiped at First United Methodist.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kathy (Larry) Pepper and Joanie (Jamie) Menard; four grandchildren, Rebekah (Gino), Luke (Lara), Mark, Terri (Rachel); four great-grandchildren; sister, Katherine Arrivo; several nieces, nephews, in-laws; and special friend, Susan Evans, whom she loved like a daughter, and her two children and two grandchildren.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Louie, John, and Abe; and a sister, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 at Roselawn Funeral Home, Terre Haute, with a former Sunday School student, Rev. Robert Bushey, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Roselawn Memorial Park. Theresa’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Whitlock Place and Hospice.
