William J. Murray
June 29, 1936 – October 9, 2020
William J. Murray, 84, of Terre Haute passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born June 29, 1936 in Terre Haute to Merle Murray and Ruth Anderson Murray. After retiring from PSI, a mere two weeks, Bill joined his son-in-law, Steven working at both Mikes Stop and Shop and Mikes Stop and Shine. Bill was an avid bowler and was a member of the 700 Club. He loved to fish, enjoyed yardwork, camping and helping the family with various projects. His hands never tired. He enjoyed meeting friends for dinner at The Bush Restaurant and the Dairy Queen on East Wabash. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. They were his pride and joy.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margo Murray, daughters Cindy Harris (Greg) and Kelly Nasser (Steven), son Tim Murray, grandchildren Matthew Murray, Emily Spencer (Chad), Aaron Harris (Jessi), Hannah Schroder (Josiah), Kayla Haynes (Geoff), Kourtney Enterline (Lakai), Michael Nasser (Kendall), and Molly Nasser (Brian DePasse); great-grandchildren Ainsley, Ethan, Henry, Hazel, Brantley, Grady, Avery, Carter, Hadley, Finn, Kai, and Kalia; sisters Janet Murray and Virginia Phelps (Dan), his best friend Skip Lenne, his beloved pet Buffyand several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Brett Wilson will be officiation. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Bill to the Loyal Veterans Battalion of Terre Haute, Cross Lane Community Church, or the Terre Haute Humane Society.
