Charlie Edeth Gray, Jr.
September 5, 1924 – January 19, 2014

Charlie Edeth Gray, Jr., 89, died peacefully at home on January 19, 2014. Born in Avon, NC, he is predeceased by his wife, Evelyn VanNostrand Gray; sisters, Grace Gray and Lucy Knowles; and brothers, Robert Gray and Norman Gray.
He leaves behind his three children, Debbie Ashton (Skip), Barbara Hall, and Charlie Gray, III (Sharon); “Pop’s” six grandchildren; Lindsay Hall, Meghan Ashton, Chip Ashton, Ryan Hall, Kathryne King (Daniel) and Charlie Gray, IV; sister, Ruth Price and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Gray, a WWII veteran, served in the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of the V.F.W, the Princess Anne Masonic Lodge, and a life member of the NC Beach Buggy Association. He was also a long-time member of Charity United Methodist Church. Mr. Gray was retired from Civil Service and the owner of Pungo Electronics.
The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4800 Charity Neck Road in Virginia Beach.
