Douglas Holloman

C. Douglas Holloman, 88, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Doug was born on March 11, 1930 in South Norfolk section of Chesapeake, VA to the late A. Cree Holloman and Ruth Ellen Dail Holloman. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his life partner, J. Marty Hobert; sister, Audrey S. Havens; stepmother, Amelia L. Russell Holloman who raised Doug and his sisters in the Berkeley Section of Norfolk; two nieces, Bonney R. Phillips and Rae Ann Woodfin; two stepbrothers and a stepsister. Doug is survived by his sister, Norma R. Phillips, nine nieces and nephews-many grand and great ones, life-long friends and other family members. Doug graduated from Maury High School, attended ODU and took special courses at Georgetown University. He retired after 39 years of service from the City of Norfolk with 19 years in Public Health, 10 with Utilities and 10 in Public Works. He also retired from Real Estate, many years as a Notary and in the Antique Business. Doug loved entertaining, in his home, his family, friends, charities and social groups. He enjoyed traveling most to the US, part of Europe, Caribbean islands. He had a passion for gardening with his award winning yard, playing card games with family and friends, reviewing family history, casinos, staying in his summer homes over the years on the Outer Banks of NC and his beloved “Deer Run Farm” on Va. Eastern Shore. Mr. Holloman was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Niners Senior Club of Chesapeake, Prime Timers of American Norfolk Chapter, several lunch brunches, Relay for Life sponsor, and Kidney Foundation. The family will receive friends at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach from 6-8pm, Thursday, November 29, 2018. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2pm, November 30, 2018 with burial to follow the services at Rosewood Memorial Park. There will be a reception to follow in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home.
