Obituary of Joyce Eileen Burridge
Joyce E. Burridge passed away peacefully in her home in Norfolk, Virginia on Sunday August 1, 2021 at the age of 88. Joyce is predeceased by her devoted husband, Albert Burridge; parents, Beatrice and Lewis Goodick; brother, Leo Goodick; son, Albert Burridge Jr. and daughter, Jane Barnette. Joyce is lovingly remembered by her two brothers, Earl Goodick (Mary Lou) and Armond Goodick (Sylvia); daughter, Judy Spusta (Don); sons, Larry Burridge and James Burridge (Annette); as well as 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Joyce was also tenderly cared for by her friends, Margo Cruz, Midge Vershelde and Jeannie Warren. Born on December 9, 1932 in Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Joyce was known by many as “Mrs. B” and affectionately as Nanny. She had an array of hobbies that she enjoyed. Nanny could often be found on Friday nights winning big at bingo. She was passionate about her garden and flowers and her huge Christmas displays that stood out amongst the entire neighborhood. Mrs. B loved baking breads and treats for all of her friends and family. She was quite the card-shark and delighted in putting together puzzles with her grandchildren. She got a thrill out of scary movies and mystery books. Having a full house of her family and friends made her happier than anything. In lieu of flowers, the family would hope that you would do a random act of kindness for someone else in remembrance of our Nanny.
