Lillie G. Adkins

Lillie Goray Adkins went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2011. A long time resident of Virginia Beach, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Eugene Adkins Sr. of Virginia Beach. In addition to being a full time wife and mother, she was retired from Norfolk Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. Her surviving family includes her sons, Gene Adkins, and his wife Brenda, of Richmond, VA, and Jaye Adkins, and his wife Patty of Chesapeake, VA; her beloved grandchildren: Jason and Julie Adkins of Richmond VA, Regan Adkins of Richmond, VA, Amber and Mike Nachman of Chesapeake, VA, Joy Adkins, and Joel Adkins of Chesapeake, VA; and her cherished great grandchildren Cristina, Justin, and Zoey. Lil was born in Talladega, Alabama in 1919, and is the last surviving of seven children born to her parents David and Ursula Goray. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday September 3rd, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park, 1110 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Visitation with the family will be in the hour just prior to the chapel service.
