Jake Serrett, Jr., 86, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at King’s Daughters’ Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Staunton.
He was born November 23, 1932, a son of the late Jake Preston, Sr. and Jeanette (Fix) Serrett.
Jake was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Melvin Bradford “Brad” Serrett, Elzia Serrett, Margie Landes and Bessie Madison.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene “Lody” Serrett; daughter, Lois Serrett; grandchildren, Gregory Jones and Whitney Harter; great-grandchildren, Evan, Jasiah, Shayan, Zayden and Ezekiel.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Beth McCrary officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Evan Cline, J. Kent Hite, Ronnie Burner, Al Swicegood, Gene Cash and Tommy Cash.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 133 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.
