Jean Wilson Painter, Jr., 88, of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his residence.
He was born in Staunton on February 14, 1930, a son of the late Jean Wilson, Sr. and Mabel (Lawhorne) Painter.
Jean proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps., having served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a lifelong residence of Waynesboro and retired from DuPont after 38 years of service.
Following his retirement, he worked as a school bus driver for Augusta County for20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Thelma, Peggy, and Jerry.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; son, Bobby; daughter, Brenda; grandsons, Chris, Jamie, and Conner; granddaughter, Haley; great grandsons, Cody and Ryan; great granddaughter, Amelia; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor John Smith officiating.
All those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at their residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s honor to your local VFW Post.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
