Luther Lester Trott, Jr., 91, of Waynesboro passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Augusta Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 14, 1927 in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Luther Lester Trott, Sr. and Margaret (Rowley) Trott.
Lou was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute High School Class of 1946. Following high school, he served his country with the U.S. Army having obtained the rank of Sergeant. He then attended and graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Soon after graduation, he was employed with G.E. where he worked as an industrial engineer for 36 faithful years. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. As a church member, he taught Sunday School, ushered and started the church’s food pantry program. He was also a member of the Waynesboro Jaycees. Lou enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, coin collecting and coaching his sons in baseball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Stevens.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Kirby) Trott; his three sons, David Trott and wife, Karen of Christiansburg, Va, Douglas Trott and wife, Nina of Woodbridge, Va and Donald Trott, and wife, Carol of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Erin, Shannon, Jessica, Michael, Kyle, Katie and Joe; great grandchildren, Blake, Teryn, Kaylan, Jayce, James and Nolan; great-great grandchildren, Rylee and James; niece, Marjorie Brown; and nephews, Roy Stevens and Bill Stevens.
Following a private burial, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Main Street United Methodist Church with The Rev. Linda Kusse-Wolfe officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, c/o the Food Pantry, 601 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
