Obituary of Prudence Jean Pierce
Prudence “Trudy” Pierce of Waynesboro, VA passed away on Thursday June 10, 2021. Trudy was born in 1940 in Scranton, PA. She grew up in Chester, PA where she met her future husband, Chuck Pierce Sr., in high school. Trudy and Chuck were married in 1959. They had two children Chuck and Denise. Trudy worked as a floral designer up until the family moved to Waynesboro, VA in 1974. In 1974 when she started working at The Waynesboro News Virginian as a proof reader. A few years later she worked in accounts payable until her retirement in 2009. Trudy was a loyal caregiver to her husband as he suffered from Parkinson’s disease for 25 years. She loved bowling on The News Virginian bowling team. She also loved, shopping, camping, boating, enjoying a glass of wine and going to Ocean City, NJ. Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck and her son-in-law, John McKinley. Trudy is survived by her daughter, Denise McKinley of Summerville, SC; son, Chuck Pierce, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; four grandsons, Joey McKinley of Richmond Va., Nathan McKinley of Charleston NC, Colton Michael Pierce and his wife Chas Pierce, and Cameron Christopher Pierce all of Raleigh NC. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m .on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro. The family would like to thank Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their wonderful care.
