Obituary of Rufus Douglas Fisher
WAYNESBORO Rufus Douglas Fisher, 67, of 24 Fisher Lane passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 24, 2012 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born May 26, 1944 in Waynesboro, a son of the late Calvin W. and Virginia Sprouse Fisher. He was a member of Glen Kirk Presbyterian Church and retired as a supervisor from Lofton Corp after 39 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Trent and his loving aunt Thelma Farrar. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom and ginseng hunting, horse back riding and being outside with his family. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy Zimmerman Fisher, three daughters; DeLisa Gammon and husband Holmes of Mineral, DeNise Fisher of Waynesboro, DeShanda Slusher and husband Michael of Stuarts Draft, a son, Rufus Douglas (R.D.) Fisher, ll of Waynesboro, three brothers; Fred, Clyde and Bobby Fisher all of Waynesboro, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his dog Bandit. A service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Glen Kirk Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Scott Conrad and Merle Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Slusher, Holmes Gammon, William West, Jason Gregory, Calvin Spencer and Jeff Sprouse. Honorary pallbearers will be his grand and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Va.
