Barbara Ailene McCartney, 79, of Nellysford, VA, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 21, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack Merrill McCartney; her parents, James and Cleo Hall; sister, Betty Ann Fitzgerald; and brother, Jimmy Hall.
Barbara worked for Virginia Natural Gas as a Senior Customer Service Representative. She was also a member of Saint Paul’s Ivy Episcopal Church and had deep love for all animals and children.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jack McCartney, Jr. (Celeste); daughter, Susan McCartney Oncu (Charles Jones); grandchildren, James Oncu, Katie and Kelli McCartney; great-grandchild, Noah Oncu; sister, Sandra Nicolia (John); brother, Richard Hall (Sandy); and host of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kimberly Iwanoski; loving friend of many years, Nancy Robertson; and her beloved pets, Leonard and Sophie.
The family would like to thank Hospice House of the Piedmont, especially Nancy, Edith and Tina.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 24, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St, Norfolk, VA 23505. Online condolences may be share with the family at www.nelsenwilliamsburg.com.
