Obituary of Nancy Lou Stirn
Nancy Lou (Bowman) Stirn, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on January 25, 2021. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt was born in Dayton, OH on Feburary 6, 1945 to Arthur and Margaret Bowman. Nancy was a 1963 graduate from South Side High School in Fort Wayne, IN. After graduating she moved to Chicago to attend The American Academy of Art to study Commercial Art (advertising/graphic art). She returned home to Fort Wayne and went on a blind date with James Stirn. James and Nancy married on May 8, 1971 in Fort Wayne. Nancy worked for 23 years with her father at Arthur R. Bowman studio. She also worked for many years at Sandpoint Greenhouse and Latitudes. Nancy continued to draw and paint landscapes and pictures of her grandchildren, up to her last few weeks. She loved to spend time with her family and all her grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her best friend and husband of 49 ½ years, James Stirn. Together Jim and Nancy raised two daughters, Elisabeth (Corey) Moldes of Concord, CA and Katherine (Matthew) Freeman of Findlay, OH. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Quinn, Lilli, and Emmerson Freeman, and Aiden and Mia Moldes; her sister, Betsy (Roger) Swisher; and nephews, Allan (Alyce) Swisher and Jason (Colleen) Swisher both of Fort Wayne, and Ben (Amy) Moses of Indianapolis, IN. A private family funeral will take place at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819. There will be a public time of visitation on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lindenwood Cemetery.
