Obituary of Gary Allen Krahenbill
Gary passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2021, surrounded by the love and compassion that he showed others throughout his 66 years of life. Gary was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia on July 5, 1954 to the late Floyd and Norma Gilbert Krahenbill. Gary was born in Virginia Beach in a time when it was country and farmland which helped to root his love of fishing, hunting and firearms. Gary loved to share stories of his childhood fishing with his granddad and his adventures throughout his rowdy days of his youth. While he attended Cox High School he held several jobs to support his love of cars and motorcycles. He married the love of his life, best friend, companion and caregiver, Kimberly Tudor Krahenbill in 2004, who remained his sole source of passion and annoyance until he passed. He said immediately when meeting her that she was the lady he was going to marry. And he meant it. Anyone who witnessed the way he looked at her was left with a sense of jealousy and contentedness. It was a true love story that was simply breathtaking. Gary was the father and stepfather of six children, ten grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was a friend who accepted your flaws, never judged your misgivings, was the first to offer a hand or a hug or offer a compliment to your hairstyle. Those who were blessed to be called his friend felt the true definition of loyalty, respect and honesty as he was the friend who always walked beside you, sometimes carrying you, but never in front or behind you. His friends were his family and his impact on their lives will be felt for all time. Gary was a 22 year member and past Officer of Virginia Beach Elks #2268 where he volunteered and worked in the community on many charitable projects over the years. Gary loved riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, fishing, shooting and collecting guns and giving us all some of the best one-liners we will ever hear, all followed by the most mischievous and harmonious laugh that will echo in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors, specifically Dr. Aruch and nurse Tiffany, who provided care in his fight. And the faithful friends who helped throughout the days and years preceding his passing. A Celebration of life will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Creeds, on Saturday March 20, 2021, at 11am. A reception will follow at 1453 Bartow Place, Virginia Beach at 1pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to funeral expenses.
