Irene Ellen Halquist
July 26, 1926 – March 20, 2021

Irene Ellen Halquist, 94, passed away on March 20, 2021. She was born in Great Yarmouth, England on July 26, 1926. In 1945 she married Harry Halquist, the love of her life in Coventry, England.
She came to America on the Queen Mary as a War Bride in 1946. Together, she and Harry raised eight children.
She was a faithful member of Southwest Assembly of God. In prior years, Irene was also a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years at First Assembly of God. Her personal relationship with Jesus was the most important thing in her life.
Irene enjoyed knitting, camping and being with her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were VERY important to her.
She is survived by her children, David (Marj) Halquist, Michael (Sue) Halquist, Pauline (Dave) Davidson, Thomas (Diane) Halquist, Margaret (Denny) Carey, Judith (Allen) Clark, John Halquist, and Daniel (Dorothy) Halquist; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Halquist; siblings, Jack Thomas and Alice Brown; and parents, John and Alice Thomas.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, March 29, 2021 with calling one hour prior at Southwest Assembly of God, 7702 Smith Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46809.
Visitation will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, IN, 6131 St. Joe Road, Ft. Wayne, IN 46835.
Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Ft. Wayne, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to Southwest Assembly of God or Heartland Hospice.
