Obituary of Lynda Lu Ping
Lynda Lu Ping, 73, of Perrysville, Indiana, US, died Thursday, April 15, 2021 in IU Health Bloomington Hospital. She was born June 3, 1947 in Gary, IN to the late James W. and Gladys M. (Vandercar) West. She was a retired registered nurse with a career spanning over 50 years and spent many years supporting the family business, Ping’s General Store. Lynn was incredibly involved in her community and in her kid’s activities. She spent hours sitting in the stands at games, meets, and races or in auditoriums at plays, concerts, and award ceremonies supporting her children and Bryson. She was a volunteer nurse for the American Red Cross, and a member of the Perrysville Elementary PTO, American Legion Post 350 Auxiliary, Civil Defense Auxiliary, Lions Club Auxiliary, United Methodist Church, and a founding member of the PPP (she adored all those ladies!). She was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, watching pro sports, camping/hiking, listening to music, dancing, and shopping on QVC. She graduated from Momence High School in 1965 and graduated from Lakeview Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. Her nursing career included hospital nursing in the ICU and as a charge nurse for med-surg, a traveling nurse for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, and over 20 years at the Cayuga Community Health Center for Dr. John Franklin Swaim. She is survived by three children and their partners who she doted on and adored, Robert (Tom) Ping-Slater of Bloomington, IN, Michael (Bradley Winnie) Ping of Hollywood, FL, and Dina (Kendall) Sams of Perrysville, IN; two grandchildren, the apple of her eye, Bryson L. Sams, and Ronnie D.M. Ping-Slater West; two loving sisters, Pam Lefeave, and Betty (Jeff) McIntosh; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Glover; three very special friends, Maureen Socha, Patty Nash, and Jeanne Colter; nephews, Jeff (Rita) Ping, Tony (Cathy) Ping, Doug Glover, Michael (Erica) Lefeave, Jimmy (Brandi) Knowles, Mark (Ashton) Lefeave, and Josh Snapp; nieces, Tracie Lefeave (Tim) Yoder, Wendi Lefeave (Chad) Hall, Amy (Dave Lowe) Knowles, and Christina Snapp (Jeremy) Wiora; and many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Gladys West; her grandparents; a sister, Barbara; three brothers-in-law, Gordon (Pam) Lefeave, and Richard and Junior Ping; and a sister-in-law, Sis Ping (Lloyd) Glover. There will be a Celebration of Life lunch and Memorial bench installation / tree planting on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Perrysville Park (across from 11142 N 200 E, Perrysville, IN) 11am-3pm and she will be laid to rest in Orchard Grove Cemetery, 18150 Harrison St, Lowell, Indiana, USA at 5:30pm on the same day. Friends and family are welcome to congregate at Range Line Presbyterian Church, 18095 Clay St, Hebron, Indiana for dinner afterward. All times are Eastern Time Zone or New York time.
