Theresa Marie Petrill

Theresa Marie Petrill, age 62, passed away while surrounded by loving family on April 15th 2021, from a hard fought battle with breast cancer. She was born March 1st, 1959 in Chesapeake, Virginia to Hamilton Russell Dwyer and Margaret Mary (Lindars) Dwyer both preceding her in death. Theresa grew up surrounded by a loving, busy family full of laughter, kindness, and many family pets. Her passion for caring for others was demonstrated through her obtaining her BSN from Old Dominion University in 1987 after being a lab technician. She worked diligently as an ICU nurse for many years. Theresa met the love of her life, Paul J Petrill, in Norfolk, VA and married in December of 1987. Her love of caring for others extended into devoting herself to motherhood to raise her two children, Alex and Kathryn. Being a mom was her greatest joy in life, never missing a single event or milestone. She volunteered in her community to help those in need, sorting food at the warehouse for the Fredericksburg Food Bank, office work for Catholic Charities, helping underprivileged children with homework at the after school program; Brain Builders, as well as numerous other causes. Wherever she was needed, Theresa was there. Always full of life it wouldn’t have been the same without her family around her. Her sister Margaret Dwyer Bradley preceded her in death. Survived by her husband, Paul Joseph Petrill; her son Michael Alexander Petrill; her daughter Kathryn Lynne Petrill. Brothers Hamilton Russell Dwyer and Arthur Lindars Dwyer; and sister Patricia Anne Dwyer; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews. A devout Catholic, a Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1009 Stafford Ave, Fredericksburg, VA. Interment will be 10:30AM Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Quantico National Cemetery, 18242 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA. The family would like to thank a couple angles who worked tirelessly to help Theresa’s last few weeks; Patricia Dwyer and Mary Bradley Tjepkes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Catholic Charities, Local Food Bank, American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.
