Mannard E. Burchett, 83, passed away on April 20, 2021.
He was born in Montcalm, West Virginia on February 8, 1938. Mannard graduated from the Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia, class of 1960. He worked at the Newport News Shipbuilding, the Naval Weapons Station, and retired from the Defense General Supply Center in 1997.
Most important to Mannard was his relationship with Jesus Christ, his family, and his service to others. He instilled in his family the importance of a relationship with Christ and shared his faith over the years through volunteering in jail ministry, working in children's ministry, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and serving as a deacon.
Mannard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Patricia Turner Burchett; daughter, Tina Morton (Harvey) of Hampton, Virginia; son, Brian Burchett (Sonya) of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Mannard is also survived by his grandchildren, Christina Morton Adkisson (Tyler), Melissa Morton Lawson (Billy), Jeremy Morton (Maria), Ashley Burchett, and Chad Burchett (Jenna); as well as his great-grandchildren, Haley Adkisson, Hanna Adkisson, Gianna Johnson (Morton), Stella Johnson (Morton), Zachary Morton, and Raelynn Lawson. Mannard is also survived by his sister, Christine Harris (Elwood) and Phyllis Burchett, wife of his late brother Gerald Burchett.
Mannard is preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Maxine Burchett of Montcalm, West Virginia; sister, Delores Stone (George, deceased); and brother, Gerald Burchett.
