Treva Geneva Byers

Treva G. (Young) Byers, 101, of Bloomington passed away on April 23, 2021 in Gentry Park Senior Living. She was born October 27, 1919 in Monroe County the daughter of Grover Samuel and Blanche Irene (Fleener) Young. She was a Member of North Central Church of Christ and a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Bloomington Chapter. She enjoyed cooking, canning, crocheting and quilting, sharing all with her family and friends. She retired from Indiana Memorial Union after 20 years. Treva is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Roy) Costello of Bloomington and Arleen (Ronald) Peters of Modesto, CA; step daughter, Sharon (Barry) Sutherlin of Paoli; step daughter-in-law, Lori Byers of Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Jeffery (Alicia) Hamilton, Brad (Gina) Seitzinger, Gregory (Crystal) Stantz all of Bloomington, Mark (Kristen) Peters, Luke (Erika) Peters, both of Modesto, CA, Betsy (Loren) Carpenter of Amboy, IN and Holly (Nathan) Sink of Modesto, CA; five step grandchildren, Stephen (Heidi) Sutherlin of IL, Mark (Clare) Sutherlin of NY, Jodi Byers of Arkansas, Clair Byers of New Jersey and John Q. Byers of Fort Collins, CO; 24 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Maxine Lindsey; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Russell Brinson; her second husband, John G. Byers; a brother, T. Ralph Young; three sisters, Thelma (Clyde) Whaley, Pauline (Don) Breedlove and Wilma (Roy) Carpenter; great grandson, Justin Seitzinger; a sister-in-law, Ruby Smith; and step son, John I. Byers. She will be missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:30 AM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St, with Brother Larry Abraham officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 10:30 – 11:30 AM in the funeral home. There will be a private family burial in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
