Alexander Funeral Home-Newburgh Chapel
Robert A. Rogers, 83, passed away at his residence at Primrose Retirement Community on November 19, 2021. Born to the late Earl Rogers and Kathleen Conture (Caruso), Robert was born on August 1, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Robert graduated high school early and joined the Marines at the age of 17. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1958.
After serving in the Marines, Robert settled down with Barbara, his wife of 26 years, to raise a family in the town of Abington, Massachusetts working in automobile sales. There, he became a certified pilot and flight instructor.
In 1978, he and his family moved to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area in Arizona where he began his own airplane and corporate jet sales business, Turbo National Inc. (TNI). Known to many as “Turbo-Bob”, he established himself within the Scottsdale community. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed golfing, flying, sitting by the pool, and making upgrades to his home. Robert was fun loving, good hearted, quick with a joke or two, and always ready for a good laugh. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Upon retirement in 2018, Robert moved to Newburgh Indiana to be closer to his children.
He is survived by his children: his daughter Debra Rogers and her husband Michael Tessier of Newburgh IN, his son Robert Rogers Jr. of Newburgh IN, his daughter Marlene Hayes of Bloomington IN, and his daughter Karen Rogers of Bloomington IN; his four grandchildren: Skot Rogers, Jessica Hayes, Danielle Tessier, and Jace Hayes; his siblings: Earl Rogers of Duluth MN, Barbara Borghi of Sagamore MA, and Peter Ruggiero of Savannah GA; and his former wife Barbara Rogers of Evansville IN.
There will be a private family service held on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh IN. The service will be live-streamed www.Facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA.
The family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be sent to the Disabled American Veterans organization.
