Obituary of Dr. David Paul Randlett
Dr. David Paul Randlett, 72, of Forest went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 15, 2010 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 47 years M.J. Randlett. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, September 2, 1938, he was a son of Lillian Anne Saicoe Randlett of Lynchburg and the late Paul Norman Randlett. Dr. Randlett was a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College and Peabody College, Vanderbilt University where he earned his master’s degree in music. He served on the music faculty of Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN from 1965 – 1973. He moved to Lynchburg to continue his ministry with both Liberty University and Thomas Road Baptist Church. Over the past 37 years, Dr. Randlett was on the faculty of Liberty University and had served as the minister of music for Thomas Road. For several years he directed the choir and led music for the Old Time Gospel Hour television program and directed the I Love America touring program for Dr. Jerry Falwell. He was the director and producer of many Living Christmas Tree programs and was the Founder of the Sounds of Liberty. For the past 10 years, he was the Senior Associate Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Karen R. Goodwin and her husband Rusty of Forest; one son, Paul H. Randlett and his wife Jenny of Lynchburg; one brother, Douglas H. Randlett and his wife Jane of Forest; four grandchildren, R.J. Goodwin, Tyler Goodwin, Justin Snyder and Jessica Ackerman and her husband Chris and one great grandchild, Liana Ackerman. A memorial service celebrating David's life and ministry will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 9:00 p.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Thomas Road Baptist Church, 1 Mountain View Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502 the Liberty University Center for Worship, 1971 University Blvd., Lynchburg, VA 24502 or Gleaning for the World P.O.
