George Alb, 89, of Hebron, IN passes away Friday, January 28, 2011. He was born April 7, 1921 in Hammond, IN. George served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a retired coremaker from Blow- Knox in East Chicago. George was know to be an avid fisherman, especially trout fishing. He was also passionate about his loyalty to his Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He married the love of his life, Evelyn (nee Lonzo) Alb in October 1941 and she survives. Also surviving is his son, James (Carole) Alb; son in law, Jim (late Karen) Hall and a sister, Ann (late Gene) Nowacki. He also leaves to mourn six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 7:00PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Schererville, IN. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be done privately at a later date in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
