Dennis Alvin "Big A" Dalton

Dennis Alvin (Big A) Dalton, 90, of Ridgeway, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Martinsville. He was born in Laurel Fork, Virginia, June 27, 1922 to John Bishop Dalton and Mittie Stanley Dalton. He had been a resident of Ridgeway for 80 years where he was also a member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeway. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Ridgeway Ruritan Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Mose Dalton.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Goins Dalton of the residence; one daughter, Bonnie D. Smith of Ridgeway; one son, Ronnie Ray Dalton and wife, Teresa of Ridgeway; one sister, Sadie D. Clark of Ridgeway; three brothers, Carlie, Paul and Vernon Dalton, all of Ridgeway; five grandchildren, Dustin Bullock, Jay Dalton, Brenton Smith, Melanie Turner and Rodney Nichols; four great-grandchildren, Ashlee Turner, Hunter Nichols, Aly and Macy Deal.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 3:00 pm at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Ray Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Sunday and other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Blue Ridge of VA Chapter, 2728 Colonial Avenue, Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24015.
