ROBERT I. "SAM" SCHOEPKE, 70, of Fort Wayne, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at his home. Born March 16, 1942, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of Russell and Francis (Grim) Schoepke. Sam was a loving son, cousin, Nephew, friend, and "unkle" to so many who knew him. He retired in 1996 as computer systems analyst with the U.S. Government Defense & Finance Accounting Service Center. After retirement, he joined the staff of Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home. He loyally worked at serving the families in the community. He served in the Army Reserves and was a member of American Legion Post 296. He is survived by cousins, John and Betty Schoepke and family, Gary Schoepke and family and Faye Perrin; close friends, Pat Murphy, Roy and Nikki Horther, Jack and Dorothy Ash, Gary and Rita Dillman, and Stan Rowe. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. The Rev. Ron Verlee officiating. Private burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials to The Salvation Army.
