Roland E. “Butch” “BT” Thompson, Jr., 65, of Sandston, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Marie Thompson; grandson, Andrew “Drew” Thompson; sister, Patsy Taylor; and brother, Steve Thompson. Butch worked at Chesterfield Auto Parts where he was the General Manager for 41 years. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. Butch served our country in the Vietnam War for the United States Navy. Butch loved his family dearly as well as his family at Chesterfield Auto Parts. He also loved to go fishing with his brother. Butch is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jean “Nanny” Thompson; sons, Rick (Tracie), Ken “Bubba,” and Sean (Amy); grandchildren, Chrissy, Kimberly, Kenny Jr., Drew, Todd, and Caity; great-grandson, Logan; brother, David “Hank” (Patsy); and many other family members and friends. A visitation will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue Richmond, Va 23231, and Saturday, July 13 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nelsen Funeral Home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to send a special thanks to the Webber family, as well as Dr. Abhishek and Jana.
