Charles "Buzz" Hobbic Jr.

Charles “Buzz” Hobbic, Jr., age 78, of Munster, IN went to be with the Lord on January 26, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon Hobbic; two children: Jennifer Hobbic and Christopher Hobbic; two grandchildren: Rylee Hobbic and Christian Hobbic; sister, Mary (Virgil) VanDerWey of Munster, IN; brother, Wayne (Judy) Hobbic of Leroy, IN; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved his pets: Sasha, Lucky Boy, and Cali Girl. Preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Ruby (Speck) Hobbic; and sister, Marilyn Hobbic. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Griffith, 324 N. Colfax, Griffith, IN with Pastor Scott Hobbs officiating. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial visitation on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN. Charles graduated from Hammond High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN with a Master’s in Education. He was employed by the School City of Hammond as a Special Education teacher for more than 35 years. Charles also was owner/ operator of the Dairy Queen in Calumet City, IL for 12 years.
