Obituary of Shari Laurene Laney
Shari Laney, 54, of Spotsylvania, VA (formerly of Butler, PA) was called home on November 2nd, 2017 to be with our Lord. Born on December 14th, 1962 she was the daughter of Charles and Helen (Winterhalter) Lascuola and Ron and Nancy Laney. She was the loving mother of Kristianna Marie and Adam Paul Fry of Cabot and her “adopted” daughters Jamie Bash and Tabitha Moore. She is survived by her fiancé Jeff Lerch of Spotsylvania, VA, her sisters Debi (David) Billings, Wendy (Alan) Bennett and Robin (Rob) Taylor all of Butler, PA and her half-siblings Julie (Andy) Sprang of Altoona, PA, Cindy (Mike) Kline and Rick Laney, both of Cresson, PA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Shari loved life and lived her life with love in her heart. She had an extraordinary ability to care or those around her and bring joy into their lives. Making others happy is what made Shari happy. Her zest for life and caring nature was an inspiration to everyone she encountered. Her love for others was carried out in her career as a caregiver for both the elderly and those with special needs. Shari was a 1980 graduate of Butler High School in Pennsylvania, and she had reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Jeff Lerch, at their 35th class reunion. She relocated to Virginia so the two could build a future together. They had recently moved into their new home and were enjoying their post-child rearing years with their beloved dog, Dallas. She was the full-time caregiver for Jeff’s father, Larry Marchyshyn who also lived in their home and whom she loved like her own father. Shari loved to cook, and put her loving nature into everything she made. She was quick learn the favorite foods of those around her and was sure to prepare those favorites each time they or she would visit. She was an avid reader and was usually in the process of simultaneously reading multiple books. Her intuitiveness and natural intelligence was quite rare. She was often referred to by family as the first person you would call to “phone a friend” when facing a question for which you just couldn’t quite remember the answer. The family would also like to mention that Shari’s passenger, Larry Marchyshyn, who also lost his life in the same tragedy, will be sadly missed by friends and family as well. He was a kind, sweet soul who loved family and was enjoying his life in spite of any health concerns. He always wore a smile and had a kind word for everyone around him. An Army veteran, Larry served this country with honor and we have much gratitude for his service and wish to honor his life. Memorial services will be held at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm, and also at Grace @ Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church at 123 E Diamond Street in Butler, PA on November 15, 2017 at 10:00 am. Her precious memory will forever be in our hearts.
