Della Sue Lipscomb

Della Sue Lipscomb, 76 passed away peacefully on April 14, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on June 7th,1941, the only child of Harold and Gertrude Vandever. She graduated from Washington and Lee High school, Arlington, Virginia in 1959, attended Radford University and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1964, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Georgia and Virginia, retiring from Culpeper County Public Schools in 1999. She was a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church. She had a love for gardening, sewing, cooking, music, playing bridge, and traveling.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Robert W. Lipscomb of Culpeper, Virginia; daughter Karen Maavere and husband Rein Maavere of Alpharetta, Georgia; son R. Stephen Lipscomb, of Painter, Virginia, daughter Kathryn Lipscomb of Charlottesville, Virginia, and grandchildren Madison Maavere and Grace Maavere. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Gertrude Vandever.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, April 17 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Clore-English Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Culpeper United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:00am followed by Interment at the Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia on Wednesday, April 18.
