Robert G. Scheibenberger

Robert G. Scheibenberger, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at home. Born December 22, 1927 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late George and Babette (Meringer) Scheibenberger. A graduate of North Side High School, he proudly served in the U.S. Army for nearly two years. He was a postman with the United States Postal Service for 40 years, from which he retired. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 82. Robert enjoyed gardening and reading, especially material about the Civil War. He is survived by children, Timothy (Rena) Scheibenberger, Melinda Smith, and Laura Hillyard, all of Fort Wayne; daughter-in-law, Susan Scheibenberger of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn J. (Rouch) Scheibenberger; son, The Honorable Kenneth R. Scheibenberger; grandchildren, Samuel and Kathryn Scheibenberger; brother, Carl Scheibenberger; and sister-in-law, Pauline Scheibenberger. Funeral Service will be 1:30pm on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling beginning at 11:00am until the start of the service. Rev.
