Obituary of Hattie Huddleston Muller
Hattie Huddleston Muller departed this life to be with the Lord on July 1, 2018, just short of her 99th birthday. Hattie lived a joyful life, guided by her consistent faith in God’s will. She was a wise woman, respected for her intellect and strong moral character. She and her late husband Edward Lester founded Edward L. Muller Construction Company after World War II in 1947. Following his death in 1985, she continued to lead the business and under her sons, it is still in operation to date. She is survived by sons, Edward Jr. (Kathy) and Berry (Cherri), her nephew Scott (Janet) who she loved as a son, four grandchildren Tripp, Berry, Chad, and Staci, two great-nephews Coleman and Vaughan, who she loved as grandsons, and a great-grandson Finn. She was affectionately called Aunt Hattie by her nieces Dottie, Betty, Carol, and nephew Eugene. In the last two years, Hattie was blessed to have a devoted caregiver, Petrice Washington, who enabled her to continue her life at home. Her niece Dottie, also deserves a special thanks, for nursing her thru periods of serious illness. Hattie was a “cradle role” member of New Bridge Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends at her river house, and she also enjoyed bus trips with her church family, as well as simply a leisurely car ride on back roads. Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond on Thursday, July 5 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. The funeral service will be held at New Bridge Baptist church, 5701 Elko Rd., Sandston on Friday, July 6 at 10AM. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the New Bridge Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
