Wanda Kay Twigg

Wanda Kay Twigg, of GREENCASTLE passed away on August 4, 2018 at her residence with her family by her side.
Wanda was born in Greencastle on August 23, 1941, the daughter of William and Helen (Slavens) Burnside, and was a 1959 graduate of Fillmore High School.
Mrs. Twigg was a Secretary for Putnam County Operation Life for 33 + years, and upon her retirement in 2009 received The Distinguished Hoosier Award by the Governor for her service to Putnam County. She served on the Town and Gown Committee at DePauw University where she became a “Mom” to many of the students. Whether it was Little League Concessions, flipping pancakes for Ridpath Elementary, or painting bicentennial fire hydrants downtown, she had a heart to serve her community as a volunteer. Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greencastle.
Survivors include her children, Dana Bumgardner, (husband-Roy), and Eric Twigg, (wife-Tara); three grandchildren, Kayla McDermit, (husband-George), Karly Bumgardner, (fiancé-Tyler), and Jackson Twigg; two great grandchildren, Whitlee McDermit and Knox McDermit; a sister Marcia Trout, (husband-Steve); two sisters-in-law Marsha Hartman, (husband-Rufus), and Connie Pierce; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, James Twigg; and a sister Sheila Crafton.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clinton Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to time of service on Thursday.
