Robert M. Howard

Robert M. Howard, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his home. Born April 26, 1925 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Merritt and Matilda (Schmidt) Howard. After graduating from Central High School, Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years during WWII. He was a shop foreman with Dana for over 40 years, from which he retired. He attended Simpson United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 47. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, and playing cards. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Riley) Howard of Fort Wayne; children, Cheryl (David) Childers of Fort Wayne, Susan (Dennis) McComb of Dallas, Ga., and Steven (Theresa) Howard of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Crouse. Funeral Service will be 1:00pm on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Rev. Steve Burris officiating. Calling will also be from 4-7pm on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Barbara Howard.
