Bette R. Koehlinger

Bette R. Koehlinger, 74, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born April 22, 1944 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Alice (Rehm) Houser. After graduating from North Side High School in 1962, Bette pursued marketing at Indiana University. She worked in payroll/accounting at St. Joe Hospital for 11 years and was also employed with City Utilities, Commercial Meters Dept., for 15 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church since 1976 where she was involved in Koinonia, PTL, Burmese tutoring, bible study, care core and greeting card ministry. She enjoyed all flowers and beautifully decorated her home for all seasons and holidays. She also enjoyed bird-watching, cruises and travel, visiting family and trips to Florida. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose passion for life and positive attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her. As center piece of the family, she led a life of joy and happiness through God’s guiding hand and acquired two loving daughters through her son’s marriages. A gracious, strong and kind woman, she treated others as God intended and saw beauty in everything and everyone. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Roger Koehlinger of Fort Wayne; sons, Michael (Jennifer) Koehlinger of Tioga, ND, and David (Ildi) Koehlinger of McCall, ID; two grandchildren, Isaac and Abigail Koehlinger; and sisters, Lois Jensen of Newnan, GA, and Doris (Paul) Johnson of Fort Wayne. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Ann Marie Koehlinger; and brother-in-law, Hugh Jensen. Memorial Service will be 2:30pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Rev. Doug Croucher officiating.
