Obituary of Mary Emalyn Tedford
Mary Emalyn Tedford, age 84, beloved daughter of the late Dillis Ward and Myrl Ward Ashby, went to her Heavenly Home on November 21, 2018. She passed away peacefully with her husband by her side. She was born in McHenry, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Hartford High School in Hartford, Kentucky and of Western Kentucky University with a B.A. and M.A in Education. She began her teaching career in San Antonio, Texas, she continued in Owensboro KY, and retired from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation in 1998 as a Media Specialist in Evansville, IN. Mary grew up in the church with her first membership at No Creek United Methodist Church. She was active at Wesleyan Heights United Methodist in Owensboro. She was a member of the choir, a Sunday School Teacher, librarian, and a member of United Methodist Women’s at United Methodist Church in Newburgh, IN. She served on boards of local and District Units. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Chapter, Evansville, retired Teachers and Indiana State Retired Teachers Association. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; known to her grandchildren as Mimmie. Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Roberts; and granddaughter, Laurel Szorcsik.   She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Don; brother, Dillis (Linda); daughters, Brenda Roberts (Tommy) of Bowling Green, KY, Linda Goss of Louisville, KY; son, Dennis Szorcsik Jr.; step-daughter, Mindy Bennett (Chris) of Evansville; step-sons, Donnie Tedford Jr., Richard (Janice) and Robert (Isabel) of Evansville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   Her spirit and love for others will always be reflected in the eyes of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2018 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Craig Duke with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 12-5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
