Matiana Bejar formerly Alviso passed away in Crown Point, Indiana, January 31st, 2019. Matiana was born November 21, 1921, Rancho Mexcala, Valle De Guadalupe, Jalisco, Mexico to Julian Alviso and Catarina Jauregui. Her family came to the United States when Matiana was just under 2 years old, and she lived the early years of her life in Imperial Valley, California. On August 26, 1944 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Indiana Harbor, she married Frank R. Bejar Sr., who survives. She is preceded in death by ten sisters and three brothers. She leaves three children, Gloria Gomez (Louis), Manny Bejar (Maureen), and Frank Bejar Jr. (Olga) and six grandchildren Louis Gomez Jr., Martha Foster (Tom), Frank Bejar III (Juana), Jessica Bejar, Michael Bejar (Stacy), and Steven Guerrero, then two great grandchildren Abby and Eddy. Matiana was a homemaker, but also worked at Inland Steel in the roundhouse. She was a member of the Munster Chapter of Lions and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Hammond. Matiana and Frank in their retirement years enjoyed spending time with friends and playing cards. Matiana will be dearly missed by all.
