Obituary of Colonel (Ret) Turner Nolan
Colonel Turner Nolan passed away peacefully February 23, 2019 at 4:55 am, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Harlan County Kentucky to Garfield Nolan and Dona E Turner Nolan. His Father was a deep mine coal miner. After WWII ended and the demand for coal fell, the family moved to Salem, Indiana. There, Turner graduated from Salem High School in May 1950. A veteran of 36 plus years of military service, He was inducted into the Indiana Veterans Hall of Fame, November 9th, 2018. He is a member of Bloomington Free Methodist Church, Murat Shrine, and past president of Stonebelt Shrine Club. He was a member of Post 18 American Legion and American Legionaire of the Year 2018. He is survived by his Wife of 64 years, Edwynna Rosenbaum Nolan, children Terri Cheesman of Boonville, IN, Carla Nolan of Fishers, IN, and Jeana (Roger) Kerr, of Bloomington. 10 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: Nichole (David) Blackwell: (Marina, Addisyn, Maddix). Nicholas (Florencia) Cheesman, Jr: (Sophia, Lucila, Catalina). Natalie (Ben) Wolfe: (Colin, Carter, Cora), Anna Eads: (Arianna, Drew, Alexie), Erica Fleming: (Tech & Ellie), Shelby (Charlie) Duffy, Jacob Parrott (Melissa Harrison), Jill (Rob) Barber (Robbie), Jordan Parrott, Garrett Kerr. Sisters: Louise Tolliver and Jean Howard of Seymour, IN, Brother-in-laws: Philip Rosenbaum of Plant City FL, Gary (Rose) Rosenbaum of Milton, Florida and Trent (Monica) Rosenbaum of Milton Keynes, UK. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brother-in laws: Marie (Wiley) Cooper, Cora L. (Walter) Tolliver, Alice (Duane) Miracle, Flora M. (Dennis) Huckleberry, Delores Nolan, Emmanuel Tolliver, Orville Howard and son-in-law Nicholas D. Cheesman Sr. Viewing will be at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. 3rd St., Bloomington, IN on Thursday, February, 28, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Masonic Service at 7:00 PM and Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 2, 2019 with viewing from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bloomington Free Methodist Church, 1121 S. Lincoln Street, Bloomington, IN, with Rev. Les Rovenstine officiating. Interment will be in Clear Creek Cemetery, 520 W Church Lane, Bloomington, IN. Military rites will be provided by The Military Department of Indiana Ceremonial Unit. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals.
