Barry Allen Bowles Sr.

Barry Allen Bowles Sr., 73, of Martinsville, Va. passed away March 27, 2019. He was born on June 19, 1945 in Martinsville, Va. to the late Stanley W. Bowles, Sr. and Carlyne Reynolds Bowles. Barry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Hiner Bowles; sons, Barry Allen Bowles, Jr. and wife Tammy, of Martinsville and Carl Benjamin Bowles of Martinsville; grandchildren, Robert Shane Rakes, Wilson Langr Bowles, Julia Hiner Bowles and Dalton Grey Bowles; brothers David W. Bowles and wife Shirley of Ridgeway, Robert S. Bowles an wife Marianne of Glouster and Stanley W. Bowles, Jr. and wife June of Martinsville; also several nieces and nephews. Barry was a member of Broad Street Christian Church and attended Warm Springs Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Ferrum College and was a Past President of Stanley W. Bowles Corporation. He currently worked in Commercial Real Estate as a Partner in Bowles Properties Inc. He was also a Past President of the Southside Association of General Contractors and served in the Virginia National Guard. Barry was an avid fly fisherman and grouse hunter who dearly loved his family and his dogs. He loved to cook and he loved going to Bath County. He was a member of Chatmoss Country Club and the Ruffed Grouse Society. A Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at McKee-Stone Funeral Home. Speakers will be John Gregory and Pastor Charles Reed. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
