Thomas "Tom" Edison Ford

Thomas “Tom” Edison Ford, 87, of Bloomington died Sunday, May 5, 2019 in I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born May 19, 1931 in Monroe County to Clarence and Lena Ford and was one of their 10 children. Tom was a machinist working for many different machine shops around town.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, R. Jeanette (Harden) Ford; four step children, Sara Hacker Machacek (Jim Machacek), Bob (Lisa) Harden, Virginia “Jenny” (Dale) Hardin and Roger Dale Harden; sixteen grandchildren, Tom (Charity) Hacker, Tabitha (John) Stephens, Tonya (Brett) Bastin, Andrea Harden, Brandy Harden, Brittany Trover, David Trover, Levi Harden, Ann Hardin, Angie Burton, Bobbie (Jimmy) Vibbert, Rhonda (Greg) Hardin, Amanda Williams, Robert Harden, Zach Harden and Marshall Harden; several great grandchildren that spent many hours of time with Tom who was their guidance; several great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; most if not all of his siblings; and a grandson, Shane Harden.
Tom had worked at The Creosote Plant south of town, Otis Moore Machine Shop north of town and had last worked for Rumpke before retiring. Tom not only enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren teaching them to repair things but he also enjoyed building things and could repair anything.
There will be a gathering of Family and Friends on Tuesday, May 7. 2019 form 4:00 - 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third St. Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Sutherlin officiating. Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
